What is Ozone Gas

Ozone gas is a colorless, odorless gas made up of three oxygen atoms. It plays a crucial role in the Earth's atmosphere by absorbing the sun's harmful ultraviolet radiation. However, at ground level, ozone can be harmful to human health and the environment when inhaled.

What is Ozone Therapy

You might be familiar with ozone as the gas that protects us from the sun’s harmful UV rays. In medicine, we harness the power of ozone (a form of oxygen) in a controlled and safe environment to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. Think of it as giving your pet's immune system a boost!

Essentially, we create medical-grade ozone and administer it to your pet in specific ways to address a variety of health concerns.  It’s not the same as breathing in ozone pollution – this is a carefully controlled medical procedure.

Benefits of Ozone Therapy

Some of the benefits of ozone therapy include increased oxygenation and circulation in the body, improved immune system function, and enhanced detoxification. Ozone therapy has been found to be effective in treating a variety of health conditions, such as chronic pain, autoimmune diseases, and infections. Additionally, ozone therapy can help reduce inflammation, promote tissue healing, and boost overall well-being. It is a natural remedy option that can be used alongside conventional medical therapies for optimal health outcomes.

What Conditions Can Ozone Therapy Help With?

Ozone therapy has shown results in addressing a range of health issues in pets, including:

  • Skin Infections & Wounds: Ozone's antibacterial and antifungal properties can speed up healing and reduce inflammation.

  • Arthritis & Joint Pain: Ozone can improve blood flow and reduce inflammation, providing relief from joint pain.

  • Digestive Issues: Ozone can help balance gut bacteria and reduce inflammation in the digestive tract.

  • Immune System Support: Ozone can stimulate the immune system, helping your pet fight off infections.

  • Chronic Infections: Ozone can help target and eliminate chronic bacterial or fungal infections.

FAQ

How Does Dr. Betty Use Ozone Therapy?

Dr. Betty utilizes several methods for administering ozone therapy, depending on your pet’s individual needs. Here are a few common techniques:

  • Ozone Insufflation: This involves gently introducing ozone gas into a body cavity (like the ear canal or rectum) to target local infections or inflammation. It’s a quick and relatively painless procedure.

  • Ozone-Infused Saline:  We can infuse saline solution with ozone and administer it intravenously (IV) or subcutaneously (under the skin). This delivers ozone throughout the body, promoting overall healing.

  • Ozone-Infused Oils:  Dr. Betty may use ozone-infused oils topically to treat skin conditions, wounds, or infections.

  • Ozone Bubbling (in fluids): Ozone can be bubbled through fluids that are then given to the pet.

Before starting any treatment, Dr. Betty will conduct a thorough examination of your pet to determine if ozone therapy is the right choice.

What Can You Expect During & After Treatment?

Most ozone therapy sessions are relatively quick and painless. Your pet may experience a slight tingling sensation during treatment, but it’s usually well-tolerated.

After treatment, you may notice some mild side effects, such as increased thirst or urination. These side effects are usually temporary and resolve on their own. Dr. Betty will provide you with specific aftercare instructions based on the type of treatment your pet receives.

Are There Any Risks?

Ozone therapy is generally considered safe when administered by a trained and experienced veterinarian like Dr. Betty. However, as with any medical procedure, there are some potential risks. These risks are rare and typically mild, but it’s important to be aware of them. Dr. Betty will discuss these risks with you in detail before starting treatment.
